Join an outreach team in Croatia - through prayer (latest updates!)
Every year David and Linda James take a team to Umag, Croatia, for an outreach event along the beach. Why not join in through prayer and help make this year's team a success! Here are the latest updates.
From David and Linda:
"There are 26 registered for Umag. Pray that everyone in the team would be humble and reliant on God.
We have one less day in Villach (Austria, where they live) and one more day in Umag (Croatia) this year. This gives us one more evening with the Teabus (a bus fitted out to serve as a cafe) and a less frenetic pace in Umag and allows us move one Volleyball tournament from Saturday. The negative side of this change is one less day to prepare sketches and music – but we think it will work and we will have good presentations.
Here is the program:
21st Aug Team arrives in Villach
22nd -23rd Training, team building and preparation in Villach
24th Travel to Umag. Teabus with music, drama and street preaching in evening
25th Mostly free during day. Teabus in evening
26th Church service in morning. Beach volleyball tournament in afternoon. Teabus in evening
27th Mostly free during day. Teabus in evening
28th Beach volleyball tournament in afternoon. Teabus in evening
29th Return to Villach
30th Team leaves
We will be working with the local Umag church and on the 24th and 25th we will also be joined by a missionary colleague, Frank Bosch, from Zagreb who has an excellent children’s entertainment act. Please pray that we would be able to present the gospel to many people at the Teabus and volleyball court using music, mime, street-preaching, with questionnaires and distributing literature."
23 August update:
This is the 16th umag outreach with team members from 8 different nationalities. Although we only have 2 preparation days, this year the music and drama teams are performing very well and we have a lot of natural talent. We have also had a number of teachings on how to speak to the people we will meet in umag. Tomorrow we will leave to Umag and have our first outreach evening.
Please pray for:
- Safe journey and no problems with the border control
- The courage to step out and speak to people
- Energy and sufficient sleep for the team
- Dry weather during the volleyball tournament and our outdoor program
- That our team will be guided by God in both our words and our interactions with others
- That God will prepare the hearts of the people that will walk past the bus
Thank God for:
- Everyone having arrived safely to Villach
- The bus being insured (change to a new and much cheaper policy)
- That everyone on the team gets along well together
- The team practices that are going well
28 August update
Thank you so much for all your prayers. We feel their power and the hand of God is on us.
So far everything has gone well, and we arrived safely in Umag. We have already had some really good and intensive discussions.
Since prayer is the key to success in a missions trip, here are a few more requests:
The Weather:
- In the next few days, we will be hosting two volleyball tournaments. For that we need some good weather. At the moment the weather forecast for tomorrow is quite rainy and unsettled. When there is bad weather, very few teams will turn up, so please pray for good weather.
Discussions:
- The ones that have already been held: There have been some very good opportunities to share the Gospel. Please pray that God keeps reaching out to these people and that they respond. There are a number of people we think will come back to talk more on other evenings.
- Especially there was a woman from Serbia. She was very interested, and she is very close to giving her life to Christ. She wants to know Jesus better and is considering praying at prayer of commitment. Please pray for supernatural experiences with God.
- The talks in the future: We ask for prayers in that area, so we meet people with open and searching hearts and that we have the right words through the Holy Spirit and have the courage to say them.
Health:
- If we are sick or injured, then the mission trip becomes a lot harder for everyone. Please pray that we stay healthy and have enough strength to give our all for the building of God`s kingdom.
Thank you for praying. We really appreciate it a lot!
The Umag Team
29 August update
Thank you for your prayers so far on the trip! God indeed has been moving, and we would love your continued prayer specifically for:
- The many conversations that are held at the Teebus every night. Prayer specifically for continued openness of heart for those who are walking by, and for open hearts for those who hear the word of God to really accept it as true. Also, for those who have heard the Word of God, that it would become deeply planted into their hearts and grow to become a personal and strong faith!
- Prayer for the “whatever” attitude to dissolve and for the people to see the importance of what we are saying. That they would know the Gospel is something that really makes a real impact and causes a real change. Prayer for a spirit of interest and willingness to act on what was heard.
- Prayer for those who come and join us at the volleyball tournament today. That we would be able to build relationships with them, alongside have a chance to share God’s truth in love with those around us.
- Prayer for continued energy for the team, and encouragement for us to continue to pour into those around us!
