You can help us speak Christ’s love to those in captivity
In the Czech Republic, fewer than one person in 100 calls themself an evangelical Christian. But here for nearly a decade a programme called The Prisoner’s Journey has been transforming the lives of inmates across 19 prisons. This has been made possible because the director of the entire Czech prison system is a believer in Jesus.
One inmate described the impact of this initiative:
“I feel freer inside these walls than I ever did outside, now that Christ is in my life.”
Your gift can help new believers behind bars to grow in their faith
ECM worker Martina Valchářová is building on this evangelistic success with a new project called Discipleship Explored Prison Edition. Specifically designed for new Christians who’ve just completed The Prisoner’s Journey, it will help new believers behind bars to grow in their faith.
This eight-session course uses a video presentation, group discussion, and personal reflection to explore Paul’s letter to the Philippians and its call to live wholeheartedly for Christ. It addresses the unique challenges faced by incarcerated individuals, guiding them to freedom, purpose, and a restored identity in Christ. It goes beyond teaching by meeting prisoners at their deepest point of need and equipping them to build a new life grounded in faith.
Your donation can help make these life-changing resources available
Remember that Paul was under house arrest in Rome when he wrote Philippians, making it well suited to a prison context. The authors of this programme have taken into account factors which particularly affect learning in prison, such as: the average reading age and attention span of the prison population, social background and mental/psychological vulnerability.
But for these resources to be readily available, they need to be translated into Czech, distributed into prisons, and chaplains and volunteers have to be trained to lead the programme. A gift from you today will help enable this to happen.
Please help set prisoners free by giving today
Thank you for joining us in responding to this need. With your help, ECM aims to demonstrate that no one is forgotten in God’s kingdom by sharing the message of Christ’s love and healing with even more of those living behind bars.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners…
